JERUSALEM, March 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli police detained an employee of the Islamic Waqf in the occupied city of Jerusalem on Monday evening.
The Jerusalem Governorate told WAFA that Israeli police detained Hossam Sidr, an employee in the Al‑Aqsa Mosque Construction Department.
The Islamic Waqf that administers Al‑Aqsa and other Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem operates under Jordanian custodianship, a role affirmed through historical agreements and recognized in the 1994 peace treaty between Israel and Jordan.
