CEC announces conclusion of nominations for the 2026 Local Elections

 

RAMALLAH, March 2, 2026 - The Central Elections Commission (CEC) officially closed the submission of nomination applications for the 2026 Local Elections at 2:00 PM today, as previously announced.

The CEC clarified that it had closed its electoral district offices, where nomination applications were being received, across the West Bank governorates and the city of Deir al-Balah in Gaza. However, it continued to accept applications from candidates who had arrived before the 2:00 PM deadline.

The CEC emphasized that it will notify all electoral lists and candidates whose applications require completion or correction tomorrow, Tuesday. The period for correcting applications will remain open until 2:00 PM on the upcoming Friday.

The CEC added that electoral lists and candidates who submitted their applications via WhatsApp must complete and submit their documents to the CEC by no later than Friday.

In the coming days, the CEC will announce the number of electoral lists, candidates, and local councils where elections will be held, based on the outcomes of the nomination period.

The CEC further stated that it will publish the preliminary list of candidates next Saturday, March 7, 2026, on its website, at local authority premises, and in electoral district offices, giving citizens the opportunity to review and challenge the nominations.
