Occupation forces tighten military measures around Qalqilya, continue siege on Bethlehem

QALQILYA, March 2, 2026 – Israeli occupation forces intensified their military measures on Monday in the vicinity of the city of Qalqilya and continued for the third consecutive day to impose a tightened siege on the governorate of Bethlehem.

Local sources said that the occupation forces closed the eastern entrance to Qalqilya with an iron gate after briefly reopening it for an hour and a half at noon, obstructing the movement of residents.

The occupation forces have been restricting the operating hours of the entrance, resulting in severe traffic congestion and exacerbating the hardships endured by residents.

For the third consecutive day, Israeli forces have also kept the entrances to the villages of Kafr Laqif, Ammatin, Al-Funduq, and Hajja, east of Qalqilya, sealed with iron gates, preventing residents from moving freely.

Meanwhile, security sources told WAFA that the occupation forces have intensified their comprehensive siege on Bethlehem Governorate for the third consecutive day, fully closing several key entrances.

Under these restrictions, residents are compelled to take lengthy alternative routes to reach their workplaces and other essential destinations.
