One killed, other injured, in Israeli shelling across Gaza

GAZA, February 25, 2026 (WAFA) – A young man was killed and several other Palestinians were injured early Wednesday morning in Israeli shelling and gunfire across the Gaza Strip, coinciding with airstrikes and the demolition of residential buildings.

Medical sources said that Akram Hassan al-Arjani, 27, was killed in a shelling that targeted the “Ard al-Laymoun” area south of Khan Younis. He was taken to Nasser Medical Complex.

A Palestinian was also injured by a quadcopter drone near Abu Hussein School in the northern Gaza Strip, while a girl was wounded by Israeli gunfire in the Qizan Abu Rashwan area south of Khan Younis.

Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes east of Gaza City and east of the “Yellow Line” east of Khan Younis, while warplanes flew intensively at low altitudes. Israeli forces also demolished residential buildings east of Khan Younis and shelled areas east of the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City and east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli occupation forces repeatedly opened fire east of the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, though no injuries have been reported in that area so far.

Since the ceasefire on October 11, Israeli forces have killed 615 Palestinians and wounded 1,658 others.

The death toll from the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip has risen to 72,073, with 171,756 wounded, since the start of the offensive on October 7, 2023.
