Occupation issues eight banning orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City in occupied Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, February 24, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities today, Tuesday, issued eight orders banning Jerusalemites from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City in occupied Jerusalem, as part of a systematic policy targeting citizens, worshippers at the mosque, and released prisoners.

Seven banning orders were issued against Jerusalemites, including a recently released prisoner and a woman, each lasting six months. In addition, a recently released prisoner was prohibited from entering the Old City for two weeks after being detained and assaulted while walking in the Bab al-Khalil area.

In a related development, the Jerusalem Governorate has documented over 100 banning orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque since the beginning of February. Since the start of 2026, more than 260 similar orders have been recorded, as part of the ongoing policy of expulsions imposed by the occupation authorities against Jerusalemites, which has been in effect since 2000.
