Two youths sustain injuries due to colonist attack near Jericho

JERICHO, February 23, 2026 (WAFA) – Two Palestinian youths on Monday evening sustained injuries due to a colonist attack near al-Khan al-Ahmar, south of the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to a watchdog official.

Hassan Mleihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baydar Human Rights Organization, said that Israeli colonists, escorted by the occupation forces, beat up two young men with sticks in the al-Hathraweh community and spewed pepper spray in their faces.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
