Israeli colonists raid Bedouin community near Jerusalem, expand outpost in Anata

RAMALLAH, February 23, 2026 (WAFA) – The Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli colonists stormed on Monday the home of Youssef al-Zawahra in the Khilat al-Sidra Bedouin community near the town of Mikhmas, north of occupied Jerusalem.

The soldiers reportedly vandalized the property, before stealing a water tank and blocking the road leading to the house.

The governorate said the attack is part of an ongoing escalation targeting Bedouin communities around Jerusalem. This escalation involves attacks on property and the imposition on-the-ground measures amid at restricting Palestinians' access to their land and paving the way for its seizure for settlement expansion.

In a related development, it affirmed that colonists are continue expansion work  at a recently established settlement outpost on Palestinian-owned land in the town of Anata, east of occupied Jerusalem. The expansion includes the addition  of new structures and the bulldozing of surrounding land in an attempt to solidify the outpost and transform it into a permanent settlement.

The governorate emphasized that areas north and east of Jerusalem are witnessing a significant escalation in colonist attacks, in parallel with occupation policies aimed at expanding the scope of colonization and isolating the city from its Palestinian surroundings, in violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
