BETHLEHEM, February 17, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation authorities issued a notification on Tuesday to seize lands in Bethlehem in preparation for constructing a colonial road.
Hassan Breijia, director of the International Law Department at the Settlement and Wall Resistance Commission, told WAFA that the notification aims to build a road connecting the colonial outpost of Giv’at Eitam with the Tekoa settlement, at the expense of Palestinian-owned lands in the region.
Breijia said the measure is part of the so-called A2 project, whose completion would isolate the city of Bethlehem from its southern countryside and the southern West Bank. He described it as part of a new systematic Israeli policy of structural isolation aimed at emptying certain areas of their native population.
