SALFIT, February 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Salfit Governor Mustafa Taqatqa on Thursday briefed a Spanish delegation, including Consul General José Gutiérrez, on the general situation in the governorate.

Taqatqa reviewed the geographical and demographic reality of the governorate, and the escalating challenges it faces due to colonial settlement expansion and land confiscation, as well as repeated colonists’ attacks against ‘Palestinian citizens and their property, which directly affect vital sectors, especially the agricultural and economic sectors.

He emphasized the importance of supporting the resilience of residents in the towns and villages of the governorate and of strengthening developmental and service projects. He also stressed the need to increase international visits to witness firsthand the situation in Salfit and report the violations and challenges to the international community.

Gutiérrez affirmed Spain’s interest in monitoring conditions across the Palestinian governorates, particularly Salfit, and emphasized the country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in development and humanitarian efforts, aiming to support stability and improve living conditions for residents.
