RAMALLAH, February 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained Wednesday more than 40 Palestinians during a large-scale detention operations across the occupied West Bank, including four women and a child.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society ( PPS) said that the number of detentions in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the beginning of the Israeli genocide has risen to approximately 22,000.
In a statement, the PPS pointed out that this figure includes those who remain in detention and those who have been released, marking a historic increase in the number of arrests in just two and a half years, stressing that this figure does not include the thousands of arrests in the Gaza Strip, nor the arrest campaigns in the territories occupied in 1948.
The PPS that these arrests are accompanied by unprecedented crimes and violations, including severe beatings, organized acts of terror against detainees and their families, widespread destruction of homes, confiscation of vehicles, money, destruction of infrastructure, demolition of homes belonging to prisoners' families, use of family members as hostages, use of detainees as human shields, and extrajudicial killings.
According to the statement, thousands of Palestinians have been subjected to extensive field investigations since the beginning of the genocide, during which occupation soldiers committed crimes no less serious than torture in interrogation and detention centers.
The PPS stressed that the policy of daily arrests is one of the most prominent colonial tools that the Israeli system has historically used to target Palestinians and undermine any uprising or resistance.
It has affected various segments of Palestinian society and continues to escalate despite the ceasefire agreement, which did not stop the genocide and comprehensive aggression against various Palestinian regions.
