Israeli occupation authorities issue order banning Jerusalemite citizen from Al-Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM, February 9, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities issued a decision on Monday banning a Palestinian citizen from Jerusalem from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation handed the released Jerusalemite prisoner, Sohaib al-Awar, from the town of Silwan, a deportation order barring him from Al-Aqsa Mosque for one week, subject to renewal.

The Jerusalem Governorate documented 100 forced deportation orders issued by the occupation during January, 95 of which specifically targeted Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The actual number of banning orders may be higher than what has been documented. This is due to the occupation authorities' deliberate imposition of strict restrictions on those banned, including threats to renew their bans if they make statements to the media or speak publicly about the circumstances of their banning—making accurate counting and documentation difficult.

Additionally, it has been observed that occupation authorities have resorted to notifying individuals of several banning decisions via WhatsApp text messages.
