JERUSALEM, February 9, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation police carried out a wide-scale campaign of raids and repressive measures on Monday in the East Jerusalem town of Silwan, targeting commercial shops and various businesses, with the participation of special police units.
Local sources reported that Israeli police forces imposed hefty financial fines on merchants and business owners, under the pretext of regulatory, traffic, and tax violations.
The campaign resulted in fines exceeding 33,000 shekels, the issuance of nearly 20 traffic citations, and penalties against 16 commercial establishments on claims of non-compliance with tax declarations. Additionally, two vehicles were confiscated under the pretext of collecting accumulated tax debts surpassing 455,000 shekels.
