RAMALLAH, February 9, 2026 (WAFA) – The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned the Israeli cabinet's approval of a series of decisions, aim to deepen illegal annexation of Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these decisions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and legitimate international resolutions, a deliberate undermining of the existing legal and historical status quo, and a clear contradiction of the 1997 Hebron Agreement.
The statement added that these decisions effectively aim to entrench the reality of annexation, expand settlements, and impose complete Israeli control over Palestinian land.
Egypt stressed its complete rejection of all annexation and settlement policies and unilateral measures that undermine the prospects for peace and the two-state solution, and that fuel further tension and instability in the occupied Palestinian territories and the entire region.
Egypt also called upon the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to immediately stop these violations, ensure respect for the rules of international humanitarian law, and protect the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
