GAZA, February 9, 2026 (WAFA) – A Palestinian man was killed by Israeli army fire on Sunday evening in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, amid an ongoing escalation targeting residential areas and various parts of the Gaza Strip.

Local sources reported that Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire on homes and tents in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, resulting in the killing of  Wael Salim Salmi, 43.

The sources added that Israeli artillery targeted western areas of Beit Lahia, in the northern Gaza Strip, while Israeli naval vessels fired on the sea off Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

With Salmi's death, the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire agreement of October 11 has risen to 581, with 1,544 wounded and 717 bodies recovered.
