Israeli colonists attack Ein Samia water wells station east of Ramallah, disrupting supply to thousands

RAMALLAH, February 8, 2026 (WAFA) — A group of Israeli colonists on Saturday evening stormed the main water wells station in the Ein Samia area, east of the town of Kafr Malek, northeast of Ramallah, assaulting employees of the Jerusalem Water Undertaking and vandalizing the facility in a serious escalation targeting a vital water source.

Local sources said that more than 15 colonists attacked the station, smashed its contents, and assaulted water utility staff while they were on duty, before Israeli occupation forces also raided the site with several military vehicles.

In a statement, the Jerusalem Water Undertaking said the repeated and escalating attacks in recent days have led to a halt in water pumping from the wells, depriving more than 100,000 citizens of their basic right to water and directly affecting over 19 communities that rely on these wells as a primary source of supply.

The statement noted that intensive contacts are underway at the highest levels with relevant authorities to stop the repeated assaults, warning that their continuation poses a serious threat to water security and risks worsening the humanitarian situation in the affected areas.

The Jerusalem Water Undertaking renewed its call for urgent and immediate intervention to ensure the protection of water facilities and their staff, restore operations, and resume water pumping as soon as possible.
