RAMALLAH, February 6, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces on Friday detained journalist Bushra Al-Tawil, 32, and journalist Hatem Hamdan, 26, while they were passing through the Ein Siniya military checkpoint, north of Ramallah.
Family sources said Al-Tawil had previously been summoned for interrogation at the Salem military camp near Jenin. Shortly before she arrived, she was informed that the interrogation had been canceled. As she returned to Ramallah, Israeli soldiers detained her at the Ein Siniya checkpoint and transferred her to the “Russian” detention center in occupied Jerusalem.
Al-Tawil, a journalist from the city of Al-Bireh, is a former detainee who spent years in Israeli prisons. She was recently released as part of the prisoner exchange following the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli forces also detained journalist Hatem Hamdan, from the city of Tulkarm, at the same checkpoint and transferred him to an Israeli police station in the area.
Media sources told WAFA that Israeli soldiers stopped Hamdan’s vehicle, searched it, detained him, and seized the car. Hamdan works with Al Jazeera Mubasher.
