NEW YORK, February 3, 2026 (WAFA) – The United Nations condemned the killing of civilians in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip over the weekend, coinciding with ongoing ceasefire efforts.
The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, expressed concern about the civilian deaths in the Israeli airstrikes during the daily press briefing last night.
Dujarric welcomed the opening of the Rafah border crossing, which ensures the delivery of aid from Egypt to Palestinians as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The UN official stated, "Civilians must be allowed to leave and return voluntarily and safely, in accordance with international law."
He stressed the need to deliver essential humanitarian aid to Gaza "in sufficient quantities and with fewer restrictions" through Rafah and all other crossing points.
He also noted that some patients and their companions crossed directly from Gaza to Egypt today.
