Israeli colonists obstruct work of teachers at school in the northern Jordan Valley

JORDAN VALLEY, February 1, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists obstructed the work of teaching staff at Al-Maleh School in the northern Jordan Valley, northeast of the occupied West Bank, on Sunday morning.

Director of Education in Tubas, Azmi Balawneh, said that a number of Israeli colonists interfered with the work of the school's teaching staff and attempted to prevent them from starting the regular school day.

The school serves Bedouin communities in the northern Jordan Valley, particularly the areas of Al-Hadidiya, Mak'houl, Samra, Al-Maleh and Ein al-Hilweh.

In a related incident, human rights activist Aref Daraghmeh said Israeli colonists prevented a trader from bringing a fodder truck to a resident in Hammamat Al-Maleh, a hamlet in the region.

Israeli colonists had stormed Al-Maleh several times on Saturday and attempted to steal residents' livestock.

For the past week, Israeli colonists have established a new colonial outpost in the Al-Maleh area, resulting in an almost constant presence among residents' tents.
