Israeli forces detain two Palestinians in southern Hebron

HEBRON, January 29, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Thursday detained two Palestinians from Masafer Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources.

They said that the occupying forces barged their way into the Harbi an-Nabi community and rounded up two inhabitants for fending off a colonist attack on the community.

Earlier, Israeli colonists encroached upon and attempted to graze their cattle on the community’s farmland.

Masafer Yatta comprises 19 hamlets, which rely heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood.

Located in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli administrative and military control, the area has been subjected to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living - livestock.

It has been designated as a closed Israeli military zone for training since the 1980s and accordingly referred to as Firing Zone 918.
