Israeli forces deliver demolition notices for two houses in East Jerusalem town of Silwan

JERUSALEM, January 29, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Thursday delivered demolition notices for two houses owned by Jerusalemite brothers in the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood of the East Jerusalem town of Silwan, according to local sources.

Sources reported that Israeli forces, accompanied by personnel from the Jerusalem municipality, delivered notices ordering the forced demolition of two homes owned by brothers in Wadi Qaddum.

Under the pretext of building without a permit, which is rarely granted to Palestinians in the occupied city, the Israeli municipality has been demolishing or forcing Palestinians to demolish their own houses as part of a policy aimed at restricting Palestinian expansion and growth in occupied Jerusalem.

Palestinians in East Jerusalem find themselves compelled to tear down their homes after receiving a demolition order to avoid paying exorbitant costs to the Israeli municipality if it carries out the demolition.

Palestinians assert that they are forced to construct without permits due to discriminatory practices by the Israeli municipality, which either denies permits outright or imposes prohibitive conditions that render compliance impossible.

At the same time, thousands of housing units are built for Jewish settlers in the city on appropriated Palestinian lands and are made easily accessible to them.
