RAMALLAH, January 28, 2026 (WAFA) –Palestinian Minister of Health Majid Abu Ramadan discussed on Wednesday with the Representative of Germany to the State of Palestine, Anne-Sophie Schlimm, and her deputy, Ruth Moulet, mutual support and cooperation in the health sector.
He briefed the German representative and her deputy on the developments regarding the health and humanitarian situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, along with the accompanying escalating challenges—specifically regarding the recovery plan, the continuity of health services, the evacuation of the sick and wounded, and the establishment of safe pathways for treatment.
He emphasized the urgent need to strengthen emergency interventions and support the Palestinian health sector during this critical stage.
This includes the provision of medicines, supplies, and medical equipment, as well as supporting efforts to cover staffing gaps through programs and projects funded by German support, in light of the stifling financial crisis increasing pressure on the health system.
Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of the international community exerting more pressure to facilitate access for Palestinian patients and the wounded to treatment in health facilities in the West Bank, including Jerusalem hospitals.
The minister also called for the facilitation of medical referrals, the entry of medical delegations into the Gaza Strip, and the unobstructed delivery of health supplies, equipment, and medicines.
For her part, Schlimm reviewed the programs Germany provides in the health sector, affirming her country's commitment to continue supporting the emergency response and enhancing the resilience of health services.
The two parties also discussed ways to expand areas of cooperation during the upcoming period.
