Israeli forces shoot, injure and detain Palestinian young man in Tulkarm

TULKARM, January 28, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained a young man on Wednesday after shooting and wounding him in the thigh with live ammunition, while he was leaving his home with his sister  in the northern neighborhood of Tulkarm.

Local sources told WAFA that Israeli soldiers opened fire on Khader Muhammad Shahada and his sister, Sadeel, as they exited their house, wounding both in the thigh.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society told WAFA that its crews received a report of two injured persons behind the Martyr Thabet Governmental Hospital. Upon arriving at the scene, they were surprised to find a large number of Israeli military vehicles surrounding the area, preventing them from reaching the injured individuals.

The PRCS managed to transfer the 19-year-old girl to Martyr Thabet Hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh. Israeli soldiers prevented the medical teams from reaching her injured brother, detaining him and taking him to an unknown location.

The two injured siblings are the children of Muhammad Shahada, a Fatah official in the Tulkarm refugee camp.

This escalation comes amid the continued aggression of the occupation against the city of Tulkarm and its two camps, now ongoing for the 367th consecutive day.
