JERUSALEM, January 27, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces notified several Palestinian businesses in the vicinity of Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, of their impending demolition on Tuesday morning.
Local sources said that Israeli forces stormed al-Matar Street near Qalandiya camp, notified a number of businesses of their demolition orders, and demanded that their owners evacuate.
For the second consecutive day, the Israeli army has launched a large-scale military offensive north of occupied Jerusalem, including raids on the town of Kafr Aqab and the area surrounding Qalandiya camp. The pretext for the operation is to reinforce control along the separation wall and expand settlements, during which Palestinian structures have been demolished.
This aggression is part of a systematic policy to tighten colonial control over the Jerusalem area, following recent official Israeli reports acknowledging significant gaps in the wall's route, particularly around the city.
The Israeli occupation authorities are exploiting these gaps as a pretext to intensify their military and punitive measures against Palestinian citizens.
The Jerusalem Governorate confirmed that the demolition work carried out by the occupation forces on al-Matar Street near Qalandia camp is being carried out on plot number (1) adjacent to the Qalandia Training Institute of UNRWA, which is land officially registered in the land registry under the name “a-Matar Lands – Treasury of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan”.
