Occupation forces continue aggression in northeast of occupied Jerusalem, storm Qalandia camp

JERUSALEM, January 26, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Monday evening stormed the Qalandia refugee camp, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation army raided the camp amid the firing of sound bombs and tear gas canisters, with no injuries reported.

Israeli forces launched a wide-scale military aggression earlier today north of occupied Jerusalem, including the storming of the town of Kafr Aqab and the vicinity of the Qalandia refugee camp, under the pretext of tightening control along the separation wall, during which they proceeded to demolish Palestinian-owned structures.

In a statement, the Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli forces stormed a number of residential buildings in the area and forcibly evacuated residents from several buildings, while deploying large numbers of soldiers and snipers on balconies and rooftops of high-rise buildings. The forces fired tear gas canisters, sound bombs, as well as live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets during the raid.

The incursion also involved issuing traffic violations to a large number of citizens’ vehicles and deliberately damaging others. The attacks coincided with a heavy deployment of occupation forces along Jerusalem Street adjacent to Qalandia refugee camp, as well as their positioning along Al-Ma’had and Airport Streets.

Israeli military vehicles removed sections of the annexation and expansion wall at the end of Airport Street, facilitating the entry of dozens of military vehicles that had been stationed in the vicinity and lands of the former Jerusalem International Airport, in addition to the storming of the area by dozens of infantry soldiers.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, this operation comes as part of a systematic policy to tighten colonial control over the surroundings of Jerusalem, in light of claims in recent official Israeli reports acknowledging the existence of wide gaps in the wall’s route, particularly around the city, which the occupation exploits as a pretext to intensify its military and punitive measures against citizens.

The Jerusalem Governorate confirmed that the demolition works carried out by occupation forces on the Airport Street near Qalandia refugee camp are being implemented on plot No. (1), adjacent to the UNRWA’s Qalandia Training Centre. The land is officially registered in the land registry under the name “Airport Lands – Treasury of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.”
