RAMALLAH, January 23, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces closed the Atara military checkpoint north of Ramallah on Friday morning, according to local sources.

WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces shut the iron gate at the Atara checkpoint in the early morning hours, causing severe disruption to the movement of citizens traveling to and from villages and towns northwest and west of Ramallah, as well as from the northern West Bank.

According to a report issued by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the number of military checkpoints and gates across the Palestinian territories has reached 916, including 243 gates installed after October 7, 2023.
