GAZA, January 22, 2026 (WAFA) – An infant died today, Thursday, from the extreme cold in Gaza City.

Medical sources reported that three-month-old Ali Abu Zur died in Gaza City due to the severe cold.

With the death of Abu Zur, the number of children who have died from the extreme cold in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of winter has risen to 10, amid a shortage of aid and a lack of heating.

The same sources indicated that the incident reflects the severity of the humanitarian situation in the Strip, especially for children and displaced people living in flimsy tents ill-equipped to withstand the cold weather.

Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from a lack of shelter and medical care, and a lack of heating due to fuel shortages, amidst a stormy, cold, and rainy weather system.
