MOSCOW, January 21, 2026 (WAFA) — President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in the Russian capital, Moscow, on Wednesday evening for an official visit lasting two days.
The President is scheduled to meet on Thursday with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He will also receive Arab ambassadors accredited to Russia during the visit.
The talks are expected to focus on the latest political developments and the situation in the Palestinian territories, including efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and advance reconstruction.
Discussions will also cover preventing displacement and annexation, halting Israeli settlement expansion and settler violence, securing the release of withheld Palestinian funds, and stopping measures aimed at undermining the institutions of the Palestinian National Authority.
In addition, the two leaders will address ways to further develop bilateral relations and strengthen the historic ties of friendship between the two leaderships and peoples, alongside a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
