Israeli forces set up military checkpoint near Jerusalem, detain three Palestinian workers

JERUSALEM, January 21, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces raided the town of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, on Wednesday, setting up a flying military checkpoint.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli forces troops installed a checkpoint at the Al-Jisr junction in Silwan, where they stopped Palestinian  and checked their identification cards,  obstructing traffic and restricting the movement of residents.

The governorate added that Israeli forces also detained three Palestinian workers near the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, north of occupied Jerusalem.
