JERICHO, January 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Twenty Palestinian families were forced on Monday evening to dismantle their dwellings in the Shallal al-Auja community, north of Jericho, following colonist attacks, according to Al-Baidar Organisation for the Defence of Bedouin Rights.
The watchdog said that 20 families, all from the Az-Zayed clan, had no choice but to dismantle their dwellings and livestock barns and leave the community following an upsurge in attacks by Israeli colonists against the Bedouin communities in the Jordan Valley.
It added that these families had been subjected to a series of colonist attacks, including threats, denial of access to pastures, and property vandalism.
It noted that such attacks were an integral part of a structured scheme to displace indigenous Palestinians from the Jordan Valley and take over their land to make room for colonial settlement construction.
