Israeli colonists attack community south of Nablus

NABLUS, January 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Monday evening attacked the Khirbet al-Marajim community near the village of Duma, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources.

They said that colonists arrived the community on all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and attacked the dwellings of the residents, who came out to defend their properties.

Several days ago, colonists encroached upon the community land and fenced off a part of it as prelude to take it over.

In one of their attacks on the community back in March 2025, colonists arrived on ATVs, some carrying firearms and others armed with clubs, and brought containers of a flammable substance. They attacked homes and residents, hurling stones at them. When residents tried to repel the attack by throwing stones, colonists opened live fire. They set fire to three houses, broke security cameras and solar panels, and vandalized water tanks and other belongings.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
