RAMALLAH, January 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli army issued a new military order to remove tree cover across 35 dunams of land in Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah.
Jihad al-Qaq, an activist in the town, told WAFA that the targeted lands are clearly marked on attached maps in red and include agricultural land belonging to residents. The order allow for the removal of vegetation and the uprooting of trees, including olive trees, as a part of the planned measures.
He noted that the order grants the occupation army the authority to carry out the work within a short timeframe, while allowing affected landowners only 24 hours from the date of the field visit to submit their objections through the Liaison and Coordination Directorate.
According to the order, the instructions take effect immediately upon issuance, and were signed on Sunday, by the commander of the occupation army forces.
Al-Qaq affirmed that more than 10 families will be affected by this arbitrary measure, which targets agricultural land and the rights of its owners under security pretexts.
He added that the village council, in cooperation with the landowners, is proceeding with legal action and appealing the decision.
