Colonists attack water wells northeast of Ramallah, cutting off supply

RAMALLAH, January 18, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists attacked water wells in the Ein Samia area, northeast of Ramallah, last night, causing a disruption in water supply for several hours, the Jerusalem District Water Department reported.

The department said the colonists targeted wells 2, 4, and 6 in Ein Samia, halting their operation from 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. The attackers broke windows, doors, and control panels in well 2, and cut control cables, leaving the wells completely inoperable.

The department warned that repeated attacks on the main water source, which serves more than 19 communities in the area, pose serious risks to residents’ access to water and exacerbate the hardships faced by the population under already difficult conditions.

Colonist attacks against Palestinian communities and infrastructure have been increasingly documented across the West Bank. These acts include vandalism, arson, shootings, and the destruction of agricultural lands and water sources, often aimed at pressuring residents to leave their land.

Israeli authorities frequently provide protection or logistical support for colonists during such attacks, including the deployment of military forces to accompany colonist groups and prevent resistance from local residents.
