NABLUS, January 17, 2026 (WAFA) — Several Palestinians were injured on Saturday evening during an attack by Israeli colonists on the village of Yatma, south of Nablus, according to local sources.
The sources reported that colonists from the Rahalim colony attacked a number of homes near the settlement, assaulting residents and spraying them with pepper spray. Two of those injured were identified as a father and his son.
Israeli occupation forces stormed the area and provided protection to the colonists during the attack, the sources added.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli occupation forces and colonists carried out 23,827 attacks against Palestinians and their property across the West Bank in 2025. Of these, the Israeli army carried out 18,384 attacks, colonists carried out 4,723, and both together were responsible for 720 attacks.
Attacks by Israeli colonists against Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank have sharply increased in recent years. These assaults often include arson, stone-throwing, armed attacks, and the destruction of homes, farmland, and vehicles, and are frequently carried out in the presence or with the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
Rights groups say such violence is used as a strategy to intimidate residents, restrict their access to land, and push Palestinian families out of strategic areas, particularly near settlements and outposts.
