JERICHO, January 16, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli far-right Knesset member Zvi Sukkot stormed the Bedouin community of Shallal al-Auja on Friday, north of Jericho, and verbally assaulted a number of international peace activists who were present to show solidarity with Palestinian families facing the risk of displacement in the area.
The Al-Baidar Human Rights Organization said the incursion by Sukkot, a member of the Religious Zionism party, constitutes a clear violation of civilians’ right to peaceful protest and solidarity.
It added that the incident further heightens tensions and endangers residents and activists in the community, amid ongoing attacks by colonists and extremist politicians against Bedouin communities in the region.
