JERUSALEM, January 15, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities today banned Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ashraf al-Awar from entering the West Bank for six months.
The ministry stated that the occupation authorities handed the minister a decision banning him from entering the West Bank after summoning him for interrogation at the al-Maskubiya detention center in occupied Jerusalem.
The occupation authorities gave the minister 72 hours to appeal the decision, which comes within the framework of an ongoing Israeli policy targeting Jerusalemite leaders and Palestinian officials in the city.
This measure is considered a new escalation in the occupation's attempts to restrict the work of official Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem and limit their activities in supporting the steadfastness of citizens and addressing their issues.
The occupation authorities had previously issued a similar decision at the beginning of last year, banning him from entering the West Bank for six months.
