Occupation forces detain young man near Ramallah, close checkpoint

RAMALLAH, January 15, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained a young man today at the entrance to Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah.

WAFA correspondent said that the occupation forces detained Laith Raslan al-Asmar, 33, from the town of Beit Rima, while he was passing through a military checkpoint at the entrance to Nabi Saleh.

He noted that al-Asmar is the brother of Muhammad al-Asmar, who was killed by Israeli fire on December 2 near the village of Umm Safa.

He added that the occupation forces intensified their military measures at the Nabi Saleh and Aboud checkpoints, causing severe traffic congestion.

The occupation forces also closed the Atara checkpoint north of Ramallah this morning and erected a checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Ein Sinya.
