Israeli forces continue aggression on Shu‘fat refugee camp, Anata north of occupied Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, January 14, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces have continued, since last Monday, a wide-scale raids campaign targeting the homes of detainees, former detainees, and families of those killed in the Shu‘fat refugee camp and the town of Anata, north of occupied Jerusalem, as part of an ongoing military aggression marked by violent raids, detentions, summonses, and comprehensive restrictions on residents and commercial shops.

The raids included heavy deployment of Israeli occupation forces inside the camp and the town, the installation of checkpoints, and the storming of dozens of homes and commercial shops, accompanied by the confiscation and destruction of goods, the issuance of fines against residents and shop owners, in addition to carrying out detentions and summonses targeting young men and minors.

Young men who were later released reported that Israeli forces summoned some of them by phone or during raids on their homes, while others were detained and held inside rooms set up at a military checkpoint. They were forced to sit on the ground while restrained, prevented from speaking, and subjected to beating and pushing during detention and interrogation.

During the raids, Israeli occupation forces raised large Israeli flags throughout the Shu‘fat refugee camp, took photographs inside residential neighborhoods, and circulated video recordings showing the storming of commercial shops and the destruction of their contents, as part of a systematic policy of intimidation targeting the camp’s residents.
