Occupation forces raid al-Issawiya and Silwan in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, January 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces raided the towns of al-Issawiya and Silwan in Jerusalem on Monday evening, according to local sources.

Sources said that Israeli forces stormed al-Issawiya, searched a commercial shop and vandalized its contents, with no detentions reported.

Israeli occupation forces also raided the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in the East Jerusalem town of Silwan, coinciding with a sit-in by residents protesting the seizure of their homes in the neighborhood, with no detentions reported.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the occupation authorities earlier today served several Jerusalemite citizens from the Rajabi and Basbous families in Batn al-Hawa with notices to open files with the so-called “Execution and Enforcement Department,” in a dangerous escalatory step paving the way for the implementation of forced eviction orders.

After files are opened, the execution and enforcement department typically grants families a limited period—often not exceeding 21 days—to carry out the forced eviction.

The Governorate explained that, according to available data, the notices targeted around 33 homes in the neighborhood, housing approximately 220 citizens, including the home of citizen Yousef al-Basbous, despite his case not yet having been adjudicated by the occupation’s Supreme Court.
