Israeli forces detain journalist, cause suffocation injuries during protest south of Hebron

HEBRON, January 11, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces on Sunday detained a journalist and caused a number of Palestinians to suffer from suffocation while suppressing a peaceful protest denouncing colonial expansion in the town of al-Dhahiriya, south of Hebron.

Local sources said that Israeli forces detained journalist Yasser Jaradat while he was covering the protest and fired tear gas at participants, leading to several cases of suffocation.

The protest was organized by farmers whose lands are threatened with seizure in favor of a colonial outpost in the area.
