Egypt, Jordan foreign ministers stress full implementation of Gaza ceasefire agreement

CAIRO, January 10, 2026 (WAFA) — Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi discussed on Saturday the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and affirmed the need to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and fully implement its provisions in line with U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan.

In a phone call, the two ministers stressed the necessity of ensuring sufficient and sustained humanitarian aid to Gaza and moving toward the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. They also emphasized the importance of announcing the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Strip, deploying an international stabilization force, and creating the conditions required for early recovery and reconstruction.

The ministers further underlined the need to preserve the unity of Palestinian territory between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and to link stabilization efforts to a clear political horizon that would lead to a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

They warned of the dangers posed by Israel’s illegal measures in the occupied West Bank, noting that such actions risk triggering further escalation, undermining de-escalation efforts, and eroding prospects for achieving a just peace based on the two-state solution as the only path to lasting security and stability in the region.
