GAZA, January 8, 2026 (WAFA) — Nine Palestinian citizens, including five children, were killed and dozens wounded, some critically, as Israeli occupation forces continued shelling schools, tents sheltering displaced families, residential neighborhoods, and civilian facilities across the Gaza Strip, in an ongoing breach of the ceasefire agreement.
WAFA correspondent reported that one civilian was killed and others injured after Israeli forces targeted a tent sheltering displaced people near Faisal Tower, northwest of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. The victims were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
In the southern Gaza Strip, four civilians, including children, were killed and dozens injured when Israeli forces shelled the city of Khan Younis.
WAFA correspondent said Israeli drones struck a tent housing displaced members of the Al-Abadla family on Street 5 in the Al-Mawasi area, killing four people, including children, whose bodies were burned, and injuring three others, one in critical condition.
In the same area, another civilian was killed and three others wounded after Israeli shelling targeted the vicinity of Al-Attar area west of Khan Younis.
In northern Gaza, medical and civil defense crews recovered the body of one martyr and evacuated four injured people following an Israeli strike on Abu Hussein School in Jabalia refugee camp.
Earlier on Thursday, medical sources announced the killing of a child by Israeli gunfire in the Al-Faluja area of Jabalia camp. Another civilian was killed after an Israeli drone dropped a bomb on a group of people in the Sheikh Nasser area of Khan Younis.
WAFA correspondent added that Israeli artillery shelled areas east of Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, alongside intensive bombardment of northwest Gaza City.
Three civilians were also injured after Israeli forces dropped explosives on Khalifa bin Zayed School in the Beit Lahia project area in northern Gaza, while Israeli warplanes targeted land near Al-Mashtal Hotel in northwest Gaza City, sending columns of smoke into the air.
