RAMALLAH, January 8, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces shut down on Thursday afternoon all entrances leading to villages and towns north and west of Ramallah, causing a traffic jam.
According to local sources, Israeli troops closed the Atara and Ein Sinya checkpoints north of Ramallah, disrupting the movement of Palestinians, particularly those traveling to and from villages and towns northwest and west of Ramallah, as well as from the northern West Bank.
The sources added that Israeli forces also closed the entrances to the villages of Nabi Saleh and Aboud, and the Mahel road in the town of Ni'lin and Ein Ayub, west of Ramallah.
According to a report issued by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission last October, the total number of permanent and temporary checkpoints dividing Palestinian territory reached 916, including military checkpoints and gates, of which 243 iron gates were erected after October 7, 2023.
