Israeli forces compel Palestinian man to self-demolish his home near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, January 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces forced a Palestinian man from  Al-Walaja village, northwest of Bethlehem, on Wednesday to demolish his own apartment.

Khader Al-Araj, head of the Al-Walaja village council, told WAFA that Israeli forces compelled citizen Mohammed Saeed Al-Araj to demolish his 120-square-meter apartment, located on the second floor of a building owned by his family in the Sami'a neighborhood of the Ain Juwaiza area, under the pretext that it was built without a permit.

He added that Israeli troops threatened the homeowner with a hefty fine if he did not carry out the demolition himself.

Al-Araj pointed out that several homes in Al-Walaja village, particularly in the Ain Juwaiza area, have received demolition orders, with the aim of displacing residents to further colonial objectives.
