Two Palestinians wounded by colonists’ gunfire, two others detained by Israeli forces in Bethlehem

RAMALLAH, January 6, 2026 (WAFA) – Two Palestinians were wounded by Israeli colonists’  gunfire on Tuesday afternoon, while two others were detained by Israeli forces in the village of Rashaydeh, east of Bethlehem.

The head of the Rashaydeh village council, Jumaa Rashaydeh, told WAFA correspondent that dozens of colonists attacked the village and opened fire on residents, wounding two, one in the foot and the other in the hand. The wounded were transferred to a medical center for treatment.

He added that Israeli forces later raided the area and detained Zakaria Habes Rashaydeh, 21, and Muhammad Asaad Rashaydeh, 22.

Rashaydeh village has been  subjecting to frequent attacks by colonists, ranging from gunfire and harassment of residents to attacks on their properties, all under the protection of Israeli forces. This is part of an ongoing escalation targeting Palestinian villages east of Bethlehem.
