JERUSALEM, January 5, 2026 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians on Monday suffocated due to Israeli army fire in the Shufat refugee camp, north of the occupied West Bank city of Jerusalem, according to local sources.
They said that the occupation forces broke into several houses in the refugee camp, conducted thorough searches, and interrogated young men, triggering confrontations.
The gun-toting soldiers unleashed volleys of tear gas canisters, resulting in several suffocation cases.
Meanwhile, the occupying forces conducted separate raids in Udla and Qusra, south of Nablus, and fired volleys of concussion and tear gas canisters. No injuries were reported, though.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted without the need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
