JERUSALEM, December 28, 2025 (WAFA) — A 58-year-old Palestinian worker died on Sunday after falling from the Israeli segregation wall in the town of al-Ram, north of occupied Jerusalem.
Family sources said the victim, identified as Jihad Omar Hassan Qazmar from the village of Izbat Salman south of Qalqilya, was injured while attempting to reach his workplace inside the 1948 territory. He was transferred to a hospital overnight, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Qazmar died after sustaining critical injuries from the fall. Israeli authorities are still holding his body, according to the family.
According to the General Union of Palestinian Workers, more than 500,000 Palestinian workers have lost their sources of income since October 2023. Unemployment rates have exceeded 50 percent in the West Bank and reached around 44 percent in besieged areas, particularly those most affected by military checkpoints and closed zones.
The union also reported that 44 workers have been killed and hundreds injured after being targeted by Israeli forces with live fire at their workplaces, while heading to work, or near the segregation wall. More than 34,000 workers have been detained over the past 26 months.
