RAMALLAH, December 28, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces on Sunday sealed the iron gate at the main entrance to Atara village, north of Ramallah, further restricting Palestinian movement to and from the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank.
WAFA correspondent reported that the closure forced residents and commuters to take lengthy detours to reach their destinations. The gate serves as a vital route for several villages west of Ramallah, and is also used by people from the northern provinces of the West Bank traveling to and from Ramallah.
Local sources noted that the closure has caused significant delays for workers, students, and patients, compounding the daily hardships Palestinians face due to extensive movement restrictions in the West Bank.
A report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission in September stated that since October 2023, Israeli forces have installed a total of 910 military checkpoints and iron gates across the West Bank.
