SALFIT, December 26, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists attacked mushroom pickers on Friday north of the town of Deir Istiya in Salfit governorate, in the central West Bank, and briefly detained several of them.
Local sources told WAFA that colonists coming from a nearby colonial outpost assaulted mushroom hunters while they were in the area, before briefly detaining a number of them. Their identities were not known at the time of reporting.
In a related development, colonists also broke into the eastern outskirts of the city of Salfit earlier on Friday, before Palestinian National Security forces intervened and prevented them from advancing toward residential areas.
Salfit governorate has been witnessing a noticeable escalation in attacks by Israeli colonists, carried out under the protection of occupation forces, as part of a policy aimed at pressuring residents and seizing their land.
