GAZA, December 25, 2025 (WAFA) — Electricity was cut off at Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp, south of the Gaza Strip, on Thursday evening after fuel needed to operate generators ran out, as Israel continues to block the entry of essential supplies stipulated under the ceasefire agreement.
Medical sources at the hospital said the generators completely stopped after the last available fuel supplies were exhausted, causing a total power outage across all departments except for limited services relying on backup batteries, at a time when the number of patients and critical cases continues to rise.
The hospital administration warned that the ongoing power outage poses a serious threat to patients' lives, particularly in intensive care units, pediatric wards, and operating rooms.
It called on international organizations and humanitarian agencies to intervene immediately and press Israel to allow the entry of fuel required to operate the generators.
