HEBRON, December 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Dozens of Israeli colonists, accompanied by extremist Israeli Minister of Settlement Affairs, Orit Strook, stormed on Sunday evening the Tarusa area located between the towns of Dura and Deir Samit, west of Hebron Governorate, where they erected a menorah and performed Talmudic rituals in the area.
Local sources said Israeli forces forced shop owners in the town of Deir Samit to close their businesses, coinciding with a heavy deployment of Israeli soldiers along the road leading to the area.
Israeli forces also sealed the road linking the city of Dura with the western villages and towns for more than two hours, barring citizens and their vehicles from using these main roads and significantly disrupting movement.
According to the sources, the Israeli government had decided months ago to establish a colony on lands in the area pursuant to a decision by the Israeli ministerial council, as part of a broader plan to establish 19 new colonies in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
In a related context, Israeli forces stormed the town of Beit Awwa, west of Hebron, and deployed in its neighborhoods and streets, obstructing citizens’ movement.
